Company Profile
BPC Green Builders (formerly Building Performance Construction Services) was established in 1998, building the first and only house to meet the stringent standards of the American Lung Association's Health House designation in the state of Connecticut. Since then, BPC has managed the construction of twelve new homes and the complete reconstruction of fourteen existing homes, all of which exceed ENERGY STAR® criteria. We have supervised the installation of performance-related improvements to many more. In addition, we have provided consulting and rating services to several hundred homeowners, builders, and architects throughout the region.
A home we built in Redding received a 2004 HOBI award for Best Energy Efficient / Green Home* in Connecticut, and another home we built in Norfolk received a 2006 HOBI award for Best Energy Efficient / Green Home* in Connecticut. In 2007, a home we built in Bethany was among the first homes in the country to be certified under the LEED for Homes pilot program, in this case earning a silver certification. We recently completed two additional homes that have been certified at the top platinum tier within the LEED for Homes certification program, which is sponsored by the US Green Building Council and is generally regarded as the most stringent green building certification program in the country. One of these homes has earned numerous awards.
We are a leading authority in Connecticut on high performance residential construction. Articles on our work have appeared in the New York Times and Connecticut Magazine, as well as in numerous area newspapers. We were featured on a CPTV series entitled "Connecticut's Energy Future," and we have spoken about residential building science to a wide variety of groups, including:
- The Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection
- Yale New Haven Hospital - Occupational and Environmental Medicine Center staff
- The Connecticut chapter of the American Society of Home Inspectors
- The Connecticut chapter of the American Association of Architects
- The Fairfield County chapter of the Sierra Club
- The Stamford-based environmental group Soundwaters
- The Mid-Fairfield County Association of Realtors
- The Greater Danbury chapter of the Women's Council of Realtors
