The Home Builders Association of Connecticut named this new home as the best energy efficient and green home of 2006.  The house walls and roof were built using structural insulated panels (SIP) technology.  The house faces due south and benefits from passive solar heat gain during the cold months but is shaded during the warm months.  Note the 3.6kw photovoltaic panels that generate power for the home and to sell back to the electric utility.
