The gut rehab and addition resulted in a saltbox that looked so authentic that some visitors thought it to be an historic renovation. The renovation included furring out the exterior walls to add insulation and the installation of a geothermal heat pump. One of the homeowners commented on how nice it felt to wake up each morning and have to look outside to determine the weather!
