The main living areas feature eastern hemlock posts and beams which were harvested in a sustainable manner from a forest in Massachusetts. However, the home was framed conventionally with a mix of engineered and dimensional wood. All of the wall framing materials are FSC certified wood, as is the plywood used to sheathe the walls and roof. Engineered wood beams and floor trusses are also used, both of which are more resource efficient than traditional lumber.
