This modern style home features clean lines, high ceilings, and an open floor plan. The wide exterior roof overhangs and drained stucco cladding with cellular PVC trim will ensure that exterior maintenance is minimal. Because there is so much glass, high performance windows are of great importance. The fiberglass windows selected here have a U-value of 0.14 (R-7 equivalent), which makes them much more energy efficient than a typical Energy Star window with a U-value of 0.32 (R-3). Heating and cooling will be by geothermal heat pump which will further reduce the operating costs for the home. Among the many other high tech choices for the construction of this home are a pre-cast, insulated concrete foundation, engineered floor and roof trusses, and spray foam insulation.
