Industry Certifications
By exceeding local and national building code in many areas,
BPC builds a uniquely superior home to that offered by most
other builders in Connecticut. Our performance goals include
energy efficiency; high indoor air quality (IAQ); unsurpassed
comfort; safety from mold, radon, and combustion byproducts;
low maintenance and high durability.
In addition to our Connecticut licenses as a New Home Contractor
and a Home Improvement contractor, we offer the following third
party certifications for our homes:
 Passive House Institute US is a certification program that mandates exceptionally high standards for energy, durability, and comfort performance criteria. Chris and Mike Trolle of BPC have undergone extensive training in this program, and Chris is certified as a Passive House Consultant to assist customers with the specification and design for the performance details.
ENERGY STAR for Homes® is a certification program offered by the US Environmental Protection Agency that sets baseline standards for improved energy performance. Homes are certified following plan review, inspection, and testing. Every home BPC builds or renovates exceeds ENERGY STAR standards.
LEED for Homes is a certification program offered by the US Green Building Council that establishes criteria for all aspects of a home's design and construction that could contribute to its sustainability. The program includes plan review, an extensive verification process, and 3rd party inspections.
Health
House is a certification program offered by the American Lung Association. The building science standards established by this program are similar to those set by LEED for Homes. BPC has built the only Health House in the state of Connecticut. The program has been suspended at the current time.
