BPC Home Construction Projects
Home Energy Rating System (HERS) is a standardized method for comparing home performance and is based upon energy-related factors, including insulation, windows, mechanical systems, and a blower door test for air tightness.

* Starting in 2004, lower scores are better. A house that meets code scores 100, an Energy Star house scores 80, a zero energy house scores 0 (zero). For every 1% reduction in total energy consumption, -1 point.
** Percentage improvement over model energy code. Note that the amount of energy required to heat and cool a BPC home versus a house built to code is generally reduced by a significantly greater percentage than indicated by this statistic.
